In addition to Student Fundraisers, we are also looking for confident, passionate students to take on the role of Supervisor to motivate and lead the teams and act as an essential link between the Student Fundraisers and the Advancement team.

What will you do?

  • Oversee and supervise a team of up to 20 student callers to ensure maximum success of every fundraising shift;
  • To respond to the room environment, creating innovative ways to motivate and encourage callers to fundraise;
  • To ‘open up’ and ‘close down’ each shift appropriately;
  • Answer student and alumni queries;
  • Ensure the accuracy of administrative procedures and data entry during shifts;
  • Supervise individual caller performance and provide support and advice;
  • Supervise and resolve any issues that arise during a shift;
  • Attend weekly supervisory meetings;
  • Inform the management team of shift activity and results;
  • Work with the Student Senior Team to guarantee every calling shift of the campaign is supervised.

What skills and qualities do you need?

  • Ability to project a positive image of the University of Leeds Advancement Team;
  • Display a good understanding of the University's telephone campaign administration and fundraising objectives;
  • Ability to motivate a team to reach financial targets;
  • Excellent organisational and supervisory skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to show initiative and think on your feet;
  • Ability to show creativity in problem resolution;
  • Consistent reliability;
  • Previous supervisory, customer services or marketing experience is desirable but not essential.

Training

You must attend Supervisor Training in-person on Wednesday 13th September from 10am-12pm. More information will be provided by email closer to the date of appointment.

Campaign Dates

Throughout the year, calling is split into three campaigns, taking place during the Autumn (3 October - 16 December), Spring (16 January - 31 March) and Summer (1 May - 23 June) terms.

This round of recruitment is specifically for the Autumn campaign. However, there will be the opportunity to work future campaigns.

What we expect from you

You must be able to attend at least one shift and an hour-long supervisor meeting per week. You will get to decide on a weekly basis with the supervisory team what shift you will do and the time of the supervisor meeting. You must also cover for your fellow Supervisors should they no longer be able to make a shift.

Shifts are 5.00pm – 8:45pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. This includes setting up and closing down time.

There may also be ad hoc shifts shifts at weekdays 11:45am-4:15am, 1:45pm –5:15pm and weekends 5:15pm-9:15pm. This is subject to campaign needs and will be opt in.

  • Pay

    Your rate will be £13.00 per hour, paid monthly and does not include refreshment breaks. This includes all training pay, which is included in your first payroll. Holiday pay is paid at the end of the campaign.

    Interviews will be over Teams. If you are offered a contract of employment you will be expected to attend all of the Training Days (see dates, hours and pay rates). Failure to attend will result in the withdrawal of any offer of employment.
