Years of art education, gathering techniques and exhibiting have enabled Jenny to paint Rebecca’s portraits for the I’m Still Me project. However, it is Jenny’s ‘extra-curricular’ experiences that have given her insight to portray Rebecca’s story.

Jenny was born and brought up in Middlesbrough, an industrial town set amongst the landscape of moors and sea in north east Yorkshire.

At 18, she spent four years in London studying at The Slade School of Fine Art at University College London. These years in the 1960s were a time of new experiences, experimentation with art forms, exploring the vibrant city and new depths of faith.

With her husband and young family, Jenny lived and taught art in north Nigeria for 10 years, which allowed her to experience a culture of rhythm and colour.

Returning to the UK to Sheffield, she taught, then retrained and practiced as an Art Psychotherapist, a journey into emotional depths of others’ lives. This helped her resonate with Rebecca’s rollercoaster experience.

Throughout these years, Jenny painted and exhibited wherever, whenever. Now rooted in Derbyshire’s dark peak, Jenny looks through her portfolio of landscapes and seascapes, figurative and abstract, meditational and community collaborations.

She rejoices in continuing to cross boundaries of genre and experiences. Painting alongside Rebecca has led her on yet another journey, refreshing Jenny and her work.
