About Brigid
Brigid Brind, Fine Artist
Brigid Brind, Fine Artist
As a figurative artist, interpreting the world around her, Brigid has an interest in the natural form, particularly the human figure and portraiture, and her work is based on close observation of the subject.
Her background is in fine art, theatre and art education. Having graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in fine art, she studied theatre design and worked in London for 10 years as a costume-prop maker for theatre, film and television.
Brigid moved back up north as her family increased to concentrate more on her own artwork. She was asked to run various workshops and, eventually, found herself teaching at Stockport College.
Over the years, she has worked on numerous mural and fine art commissions. Her recent projects include recreating original murals for the splendid art deco Plaza Theatre/Cinema in Stockport.
She has also been involved in portrait projects including ‘Portraits for NHS Heroes’ during the pandemic, and, more recently, the ‘COVID Commemoration’ exhibition at Stockport Art Gallery which honoured several courageous NHS staff with individual portraits.
Brigid has a studio at Vernon Mill in Stockport.
Brigid’s I’m Still Me paintings
For the I’m Still Me project, Brigid created the artworks of the patient, Suzie, and researcher, Rachael. She is very grateful to have been asked to create work for this challenging but wonderful project.
