They oversee over 1,200 University staff and more than 5,000 students.
Our mission as a leading biomedical and health service research institution is to deliver educational and research excellence that impacts on human health and wider society.
Together we deliver an immersive and transdisciplinary approach to tackling health challenges and deliver outstanding education with technology and innovation at its core.
Our Schools conduct inter- and transdisciplinary activities in partnership with other Schools across the University and outside: notably in physical-mathematical sciences, digital/computation, social and ethical sciences and bio-engineering and biosciences to deliver high-quality student education and conduct high-impact research.
Our partnerships with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and primary, secondary, community and mental health trusts across West Yorkshire are central to our clinical training programs and applied research. They include joint academic appointments and honorary contracts, shared research strategies and infrastructure, student placements and postgraduate courses.
In partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, the Faculty hosts the NIHR Clinical Research Network Co-ordinating Centre that oversees and manages around 700,000 NHS patients involved in clinical trials across England.
Our education portfolio and student community
Our internationally accepted and UK-accredited training programmes prepare the students for a challenging career in the NHS and beyond.
Our research strengths are embedded in the regulated clinical training curriculum, giving the students a unique experience and opportunity to not only excel in clinical service delivery but also work towards creating even greater impact through research and innovation.
Our online, distance learning and continuous professional development programmes are popular among clinical professionals across the world. Our non-clinical, science-research focused postgraduate programmes recruit students from many countries.
Our multinational and multicultural staff not only train our students using diverse teaching and learning techniques but also provide close pastoral support. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated our plans to develop and establish new programmes at postgraduate level using digital learning platforms.
